Fighting Finishes for Triumph Riders in Challenging Snetterton Sportbike Race

Round 3 of the Sportbike Championship at Snetterton delivered close racing and fierce battles throughout the field, with Triumph Daytona 660 riders showing determination and race craft across the board in a competitive 11-lap contest.

After an impressive qualifying, Harrison Dessoy lined up as the top Triumph in fifth on his PHR Performance Daytona 660, joined on the front rows by fellow Triumph mounted Rhys Stephenson in sixth and Thomas Strudwick in eighth. With seven Triumph riders qualifying inside the top 15, the stage was set for a strong showing.

The race got underway with early battles unfolding immediately. Stephenson made a strong launch to edge ahead of Dessoy, with Strudwick also gaining ground. As the race settled into rhythm, Dessoy was right in the fight for fourth, making a confident move into the position mid-race before being forced to sit up in the heat of battle, ultimately finishing seventh in a tight scrap just off the podium.

Stephenson brought his Daytona 660 home in eighth after a consistent and combative ride, while Strudwick completed the top ten despite a mid-race shuffle. Macadam Triumph rider Lewis Smart finished 13th while teammate and fellow rookie Brodie Gawith bounced back from a practice crash to climb from 21st on the grid to finish 17th, gaining valuable experience and track time. Katie Hand continued her development in the class, making up places during the race to finish 32nd.

Jayden Martin had been running strongly just outside the top ten before a crash on the penultimate lap ended his race early. He walked away unhurt.

With close battles and more potential to unlock, the Triumph riders look ahead to the next round at Knockhill on 4 - 5 July.

Lewis Smart #32 - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing: “We got off to a good start finishing FP1 in the top 10. We had a few issues in FP2 which we ironed out going into qualifying and I finished P12 in qualifying. That set me on row four for the race. I didn’t get off to the greatest start and couldn't tag on with the second group and found myself in a bit of a lonely race but I still kept putting in the times and we brought it home in 13th place.”

Brodie Gawith #27 - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing: “Mixed weekend here in Snetterton. We started off Free Practice really well with a seventh then in FP2 I was pushing a bit more, trying to find some better lap times and unfortunately crashed. I lost a bit of feeling and confidence in the front end for qualifying the next day and only qualified in 21st which was definitely not ideal. In the race I worked my way up to P17 so I’m somewhat happy, just need to keep improving and onto the next one at Knockhill in two weeks.”

Katie Hand #66 - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing: “I’m happy with the progress that we made over the weekend. I went quicker every session and every session was good. Lovely to finish the weekend off with a good solid race where I was able to pick a few more people off and get a higher finish. Keep this momentum going into Knockhill and we should hopefully be in for another good weekend.”

Jayden Martin #85 - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing: “Started well in free practices and qualified 11th and was pretty stoked with that. Had a good start in the race and was battling for the top 10 and then had a bit of difficulty with my quick shifter and I dropped a few seconds. I managed to get back up to the group but then I just clipped the back of someone's wheel which left me in the dirt but I can't thank the team enough for having my bike on rails.”
