Izan Guevara secured his second Moto2™ World Championship victory of the season at Austria’s Red Bull Ring today, taking the Grand Prix win in dominant fashion over Filip Salač and David Alonso

After San Marino just seven days ago, the Red Bull Ring played host to Round 15 of the 2026 Moto2 World Championship this weekend as the series marked its final European race before heading overseas for the Asian leg of the season.

From Friday practice it was clear the pace was quick, with Salac concluding timed practice quickest and under lap record pace. The Czech rider then backed up his Friday outing by blitzing to the top of the timesheets to take pole position over Manuel Gonzalez and Alex Escrig.

As the mist cleared over the Styrian hills on Sunday, the Moto2 field was ready for action under the blue skies as 23 laps awaited them.

From pole position, Salač burst into the lead and fought it out with Manuel Gonzalez in the opening corners. As the duo exited the turn 2 chicane, a moment cost Gonzalez drive, and allowed the American Racing Team rider to break clear on the climb to turn three - Gonzalez, meanwhile, dropped to fourth but was quickly working his way back towards the podium.

Salač was quickly put under pressure by Guevara and Ivan Ortola, who both worked their way through on the Czech rider on the second lap and quickly found himself defending from Alonso.

As the opening laps ticked by, Guevara gradually opened his advantage at the head of the field, and saw it grow to over a second by lap nine. By lap 11, it was over two seconds and Salač was back into second, getting the better of a fast starting Ortola before he began his charge chasing down the leader.

Guevara managed the lead perfectly, harnessing the power of his 765cc engine, as seen on the Street Triple 765 RS, and despite a turn nine scare with four laps remaining, held on to take victory and 25 championship points. Salač remained untouched for the remainder of the Grand Prix, with Alonso and Gonzalez beating Ortola who rounded out the top five.

Alonso Lopez finished a strong sixth ahead of Dani Holgado and Barry Baltus, with Deniz Öncü and Luca Lunetta rounding out the top ten.

The Moto2 season returns to action early next month as the World Championship kicks off its overseas journey at the Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan on 2-4 October.
